The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, during a meeting with Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of State in Singapore for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs, emphasized the expansion of bilateral cooperation and strengthening relations between the two countries.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
The two sides exchanged their views on several regional and international issues of mutual importance during this meeting. Minister Shoukry emphasized the importance of following up on the outcomes of the recent visit of the President of Singapore to Egypt in September 2025 and the implementation of the agreements and memorandums of understanding that were concluded during this visit.

Investment Opportunities
He also referred to reviewing proposals for further developing bilateral relations in various fields and noted that Egypt and Singapore will celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year. Minister Shoukry outlined promising opportunities for localizing priority industries in Egypt and urged Singaporean companies to expand their investments and benefit from the competitive advantages that the Egyptian economy offers, especially the incentives and facilities available in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
Strengthening Relations with ASEAN
The Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional relations between Egypt and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and referred to Egypt's close relations with the member countries of this association. He reminded that Egypt was one of the first Arab and African countries to sign the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation with ASEAN in 2016.
Minister Shoukry expressed hope that Egypt's relations with ASEAN would be elevated to the level of a dialogue partner, which would provide more cooperation opportunities with ASEAN member countries in various fields.
Regional and International Issues
The discussions also included several regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly developments related to the Palestinian issue. Minister Shoukry emphasized the need for progress in the second phase of the peace plan proposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump and stressed the necessity of Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and ensuring the complete and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid, supporting reconstruction efforts, and empowering the National Committee for Gaza.
The Singaporean minister also praised Egypt's efforts to reinforce the ceasefire, implement agreements reached under the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement, and complete the roadmap, commending Egypt's pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid to the Gaza Strip.
