Poland is planning to provide a number of PAC-3 interceptor missiles for the U.S.-made Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. This action has been announced as part of a new military aid package.
Details of the New Military Package
The planned package will be worth approximately 50 million euros (equivalent to 58 million dollars) and will primarily focus on air defense capabilities, according to information from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. The Polish Ministry of Defense has confirmed that a new military support package is being prepared, but has not disclosed details of the equipment included for security reasons.

The ministry has also informed the newspaper Rzeczpospolita that the package will include equipment that has been retired from the Polish Armed Forces, as their useful life has ended. This equipment, which will no longer be used by Poland, could be beneficial for Ukraine.
Support for Ukraine
The PAC-3 missiles for Poland's Patriot systems are among the equipment intended to be transferred to Ukraine. Poland's operational commander, General Ireneusz Nowak, has stated that he supports the provision of Patriot munitions to Ukraine, but has also pointed out the limited number of missiles. He said, "No one is talking about mass donations."
In July, Poland also provided five PAC-3 missiles to Ukraine. Ukraine has repeatedly requested additional air defense munitions from its allies, especially as it continues to face missile and drone attacks from Russia.
Kyiv has specifically emphasized the need for PAC-3 missiles, especially ahead of an anticipated Russian winter campaign that will target civilian and energy infrastructure. Polish Defense Minister Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz announced in July that Poland has provided approximately 3.8 billion euros (equivalent to 4.4 billion dollars) in military aid to Ukraine.
