Pakistan, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Muslim World League (MWL) strongly condemned the Houthi attacks on the areas of Mecca and Medina and expressed support for Saudi Arabia in protecting the Islamic holy sites.
Condemnation of the attacks and expression of sympathy
Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, while condemning the failed drone attack on Mecca, stated that the people of Pakistan were deeply affected by this incident. He also congratulated the Saudi Royal Armed Forces for their swift and effective response and emphasized that Pakistan stands firmly with Saudi Arabia in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Sharif stressed that the security and sanctity of the two holy mosques must be preserved.
Call for caution and diplomacy
The Prime Minister of Pakistan also urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid escalating tensions. He stated that dialogue and diplomacy are the only sustainable ways to achieve peace. Meanwhile, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation also condemned the attacks on Mecca and the Medina region, deeming them a threat to civilians and a violation of the sanctity of holy places and mosques.
This organization stated that attacks on holy sites, mosques, and civilian infrastructure are incompatible with Islamic values as well as international principles and laws. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and supported the measures that the country is taking to prevent attacks and preserve the sanctity of holy places.
Emphasis on global solidarity
The Muslim World League also condemned the attacks on Mecca and Medina, emphasizing the continued Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, the Secretary-General of MWL, called on Islamic countries and the international community to condemn these attacks and stated that these attacks endanger the lives of Muslims and the sanctity of holy places. MWL also supported Saudi Arabia and emphasized the need to preserve the sanctity of holy places and the lives of Muslims.
