48 Iranian prisoners were transferred from Iraq to Ilam prisons. This transfer was carried out in accordance with the implementation of the agreement on the transfer of convicts.

Ali Havas, the head of Ilam prisons, announced the transfer of 48 Iranian prisoners from Iraq to Ilam prisons. This transfer is the tenth group of Iranian prisoners and was carried out in accordance with the implementation of the agreement on the transfer of convicts between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq.

Details of the Prisoners' Transfer

These 48 prisoners include 44 men and 4 women who were previously incarcerated in Iraqi prisons. The transfer of these prisoners was conducted through the Mehran border and in the presence of various officials, including a representative and deputy minister of justice, the head of the general and revolutionary courts of Ilam, the deputy prosecutor of Ilam, and the prosecutor of Mehran County.

Reasons for the Transfer of Prisoners

Ali Havas further pointed out that these individuals were sentenced to imprisonment in Iraq for various reasons. With the follow-ups conducted by the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the judiciary, the prison organization, and the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Baghdad, the possibility of transferring these prisoners to serve the remainder of their sentences in Ilam province was facilitated.

This transfer is considered an important step in judicial and legal cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq. Additionally, this process reflects the determination of both countries to facilitate and improve the legal status of their citizens in judicial and prison matters.

According to Havas, this transfer can also help facilitate the handling of legal and judicial cases of individuals in the future. This action could serve as a model for other countries in terms of legal and judicial interactions.

In conclusion, the head of Ilam prisons expressed hope that with the continuation of this process, the problems of Iranian prisoners abroad would be reduced and their rights would be respected.
