The Anti-Terrorism Group of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Condemns Recent U.S. Attacks on Iran

The Anti-Terrorism Group of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization condemned the recent U.S. attacks on Iran during its meeting in Islamabad and emphasized support for Iran's sovereignty and security.

The Anti-Terrorism Group of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO RATS) condemned the recent U.S. attacks on Iran during its meeting in Islamabad on Monday and reiterated its stance against military actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Details of the Meeting in Islamabad

This position was expressed during the forty-sixth meeting of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Islamabad. The meeting was chaired by Pakistan, with representatives from Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, along with representatives from the SCO RATS Executive Committee.

During this meeting, current international issues regarding regional security guarantees were discussed and examined.

Condemnation of Military Attacks

The SCO RATS Council expressed condolences to the government and people of Iran for the tragic killing of former Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, as well as to the families of the victims, emphasizing the preservation of Iran's sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. The council also supported efforts made to reduce tensions, establish peace, and ensure stability in the region.

Discussions at this meeting particularly focused on the latest U.S. military attacks on Iranian military positions. These attacks occurred earlier this month, and Iran quickly responded with missile and drone strikes on U.S.-related positions in the region.

The presidency of the SCO RATS has been transferred from Pakistan to Russia, indicating a change in the leadership of this group. This leadership change may have implications for the organization's future policies regarding regional crises.

The Anti-Terrorism Group of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has consistently emphasized the necessity of cooperation among countries in combating terrorism and maintaining regional security. This meeting is also seen as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations and cooperation among member countries in the field of security.
