Yemeni government forces announced on Monday that the Houthi group has mobilized over 76,000 people during recent battles on the western coast. These forces claimed that this operation involved "Iranian and Lebanese experts" and aimed to control the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The spokesperson for the Yemeni National Resistance Forces, Brigadier General Sadiq Dweid, stated in a statement that this operation had been "planned and prepared months in advance" and was executed under the "direct orders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran." According to him, Iranian and Lebanese experts played a role in managing this operation.

The National Resistance Forces have defended along a front line of 170 kilometers (105 miles) and have also protected coasts and islands. These forces reported that from August 9 to September 9, they fired 130 ballistic missiles, 145 suicide drones, and 15 explosive boats at various targets.

Dweid also noted that these attacks included 23 missiles and 18 drones targeting positions controlled by General Tariq Saleh's brigade, the commander of the National Forces and deputy head of the Yemeni Leadership Council. Yemen had experienced relative calm since April 2022, but in recent years, especially after the outbreak of the Gaza war, the Houthis have played a larger role in regional tensions, launching attacks towards Israel and commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
