Anwar Ibrahim expressed his deep concern regarding reports of the interception of a drone near Mecca in a statement published on social media. He said: "Any attempt to threaten the security and sanctity of the holiest city in Islam is completely unacceptable."

The Prime Minister of Malaysia also appreciated Saudi Arabia's swift action to protect residents and pilgrims in Mecca, adding: "This incident highlights the need to prevent further escalation in the region, and I call for an immediate halt to attacks on civilian locations and actions that could jeopardize sacred sites."
The Necessity of Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution
Anwar Ibrahim also emphasized that the relevant parties must maintain their calm and seek a peaceful resolution through dialogue. He said: "We urge all parties to achieve calm and engage in dialogue without delay."
These statements came after Saudi air defense intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by the Houthi group from Yemen near Mecca. The Houthi group denied responsibility for launching the drone. The spokesperson for the Saudi coalition, Turki al-Maliki, announced that the drone was intercepted around 6:50 PM local time on Tuesday before entering prohibited airspace, and its remnants fell in the south of Mecca.
This incident has once again heightened concerns about security and stability in the region and underscores the need to prevent any provocative actions. As the situation in the Middle East remains tense, monitoring and preventive actions by regional countries seem essential.
