Vladimir Zelensky Doubts Russia's Commitment to Energy Agreements

Vladimir Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, expressed doubt about Russia's adherence to the announced energy agreements. He emphasized the need for guarantees from international partners to stop attacks on energy infrastructure.

Vladimir Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, stated on Monday that Ukraine is not convinced that Russia is willing to adhere to any agreements, after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the two countries had agreed not to attack each other's energy assets.

Ceasefire on Mutual Attacks on Infrastructure

Zelensky said in a post on the U.S. social media platform, X, that Ukraine is ready to stop mutual attacks on Russia if "our partners" can guarantee that Moscow will truly refrain from attacking the power system, energy facilities, critical infrastructure, and food supply routes.

He added: "This agreement must be reliable, long-term, and have a real impact on people's lives and should not disappear after the Russians hold elections and pressure on gasoline and diesel decreases during that period."

Security Measures and Criticism of Moscow

Zelensky stated that Ukraine has proposed that its partners reach an agreement with Russia to stop attacks on critical infrastructure and accused Moscow of attacking food, energy, and other essential infrastructure "that sustain life."

He emphasized: "Every day, Ukraine's energy facilities, port infrastructure, logistics, and even food and medicine storage warehouses are being attacked. Ukraine is not convinced that Russia is willing to adhere to any agreements."

Zelensky also stressed that "the war must end" and added that measures to reduce tensions regarding critical infrastructure could be the first step towards peace.

He concluded by saying: "We expect details from our partners."
