UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) announced that over 137,000 school-aged children in Yemen are facing serious disruptions in their education due to ongoing conflicts. The organization stated in a press release on Monday that its response teams are launching 20 safe spaces for children and temporary classrooms to support those affected by these conflicts.

UNICEF emphasized that "children should not lose their future because of conflicts." The organization also stated that due to the renewed escalation of conflicts, families have been forced to flee their homes in the western Taiz province and various areas along the western coast of Yemen.

Emergency Aid for Displaced Persons
UNICEF, along with the United Nations Population Fund and the World Food Programme, is providing emergency assistance to over 14,000 newly displaced individuals. These actions are in response to the urgent needs of those who have been driven from their homes due to conflicts and violence.
Conflicts between Yemeni government forces and the Houthis have intensified since early July, leading to a new humanitarian crisis in the country after years of relative calm. Yemen has been embroiled in war since 2014 when the Houthis seized the capital Sana'a and several other provinces. Since 2015, an Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia has entered the war to support the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
UNICEF and other international organizations are working to create a safe environment and support affected children in this critical situation. As the humanitarian situation in Yemen worsens, the international community is also increasing pressure to end this crisis and support the people of Yemen.
