Saudi Arabia emphasized the importance of protecting maritime corridors and freedom of navigation, warning about Houthi threats in the Red Sea.

Saudi Arabia has emphasized the importance of protecting maritime corridors and freedom of navigation, warning about Houthi threats in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. These threats are recognized as a serious danger to global trade and supply chains.

Saudi Position at the UN Security Council Meeting

Saudi Arabia's position was expressed by the country's permanent representative to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wazil, during a UN Security Council meeting regarding Houthi threats to maritime navigation. Al-Wazil condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and targeting of commercial ships and maritime routes, affirming Saudi Arabia's right to protect its national security.

Formation of a Multinational Naval Coalition

Dr. Al-Wazil also announced the establishment of a multinational naval defense coalition by Saudi Arabia to enhance maritime security and protect freedom of navigation against growing threats in the region's vital waterways. This action is aimed at securing maritime corridors and facilitating international trade flows.

Saudi Arabia also reiterated its support for de-escalation and efforts to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable political solution to the Yemen crisis. The country reaffirmed its support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Yemen.

The Saudi representative called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in protecting maritime corridors, ensuring the flow of international trade, and maintaining regional and international security and stability.
