An American pilot who was forced to rescue himself in Iran after his plane crashed in April shared details of his rescue operation in an interview. The pilot, known by the alias "Bravo" in this interview, explained how he tried to deploy his parachute after it was damaged during free fall.
Challenges and Difficulties During Escape
Bravo said in the interview: "This was the scariest thing I have ever seen." He sustained serious injuries in the crash, including a broken back, arm, and shoulder, and also twisted his ankle and suffered bloody scratches on his face. After jumping out of his F-15 aircraft, he managed to escape from Iranian forces and climbed to the top of a 7,000-foot hill, carrying only a weapon, a communication device, and a tracking beacon.

Rescue Operation and Cooperation of Special Forces
While the pilot was quickly rescued, Bravo was rescued 50 hours later. During this time, he hid in a mountain crevice, waiting for rescue forces. The rescue operation involved hundreds of American military and intelligence personnel, including special forces such as Delta Force and Navy SEAL Team Six. Additionally, a unique operation was conducted to deceive the Iranian forces that were searching for him.
Bravo told CBS: "As soon as I found a place that I felt could hide me, I started to communicate." He described his first message as: "God is good." This rescue operation faced multiple challenges, including the destruction of two MC-130J aircraft that had to be destroyed due to damage to prevent them from falling into Iranian hands.
At the end of the interview, Bravo said that this experience was one of the greatest moments of his life and expressed deep gratitude to his rescuers. He said: "This was one of the greatest moments of my life, and I don't know how to say thank you to all of them."
