War reminds us every day in Ukraine how fragile life is. In the heart of Kyiv, the voices of fear and despair from women and children can be heard. They struggle to keep love and affection alive in their hearts under the deadly rain of bombings.
Pain and Suffering of Generations
The stories of past generations are still alive in the minds of many of us. My grandmother, who lived through World War II, often spoke of her struggles against the Nazis. At the age of 17, she was forced to flee and seek refuge, but she never gave up. She taught us that life can still be beautiful even in hardship.
Today, my friends and I in Kyiv are facing a new crisis. On days when the sky takes on a sorrowful rainbow due to Russian airstrikes, our hands tremble. This trembling is not only a sign of fear but also a symbol of our deep emotional wounds. Hands that have shaken in the face of war and terror are still ready to express love and empathy.
Preserving Ourselves
It is easy to say that we, as a community, must endure this pain, but maintaining tenderness in such conditions is difficult. We want to survive, but we do not want to lose our humanity and love. In every airstrike, we remind ourselves that we must stand for each other and never let go of love and affection.
My presence on this front line is not just as a writer, but as a voice for those whose hands have trembled and whose spirits have been broken in this war. We must give each other hope and show that life can continue even amidst pain and suffering.
